Advertisement Analysis

This magazine advertisement for Kings of Leon includes the name of the band as well as then name of the album and tracks which will be include in the album. Typography used in both the name of the artist and the name of the album which share similar designs, this shows a general theme on the advert. The name of the album is also in a similar colour to the main image which makes the advertisement consistent. In a smaller text the poster displays some of the albums content in a white font, this makes it stand out from other text on the advert. OUT NOW is also in red, again making it stand out from the rest of the text. This helps it easy for the audience to point at relevant information which will be helpful for them.
The album title “Only By The Night" seems to link to the choice of colours in the photograph. The title of the album suggests darkness which is reflected on the poster through the dark colours used. This again gives the audience an idea of what will be on the album cover. This advertisement cleverly uses parts of each member of the band to construct a image of a bird or owl which also suggests night time as owls are nocturnal and their time is mostly at night.
